The Program
Classes meet weekly on Sunday mornings, and follow the Yale academic calendar. The morning begins at 930am and ends at noon. The Hillel Children’s School is committed to teaching Hebrew, prayers and blessings, Torah , Jewish holidays and traditions. The students learn through ideas and values that flow from Jewish texts and experiences. The age-appropriate curriculum includes history, modern Israel, Hebrew reading and writing, basic conversational and prayer Hebrew, the bible and its impact on everyday life, observing Shabbat, Tzedakah, Jewish ethics, mitzvah projects and community service. The school’s aim is to foster a Jewish consciousness that can be informed by knowledge and inquisitive exploration.
Families do not need to have any Yale affiliation to join the Hillel Children’s School.
